Science
Goals include encouraging children to use all of their senses, ask questions, understand cause and effect, and learn about life cycles of plants and animals. We offer experiences for children to observe, compare, plan and interpret, learn about the pattern of seasons, appreciate nature, and treat the environment with respect.
Art
CJP's children explore various art media. Goals include allowing for self-expression, strengthening fine motor skills, developing an awareness of the world around them as well as for Judaic symbols and themes, and enjoying the process of creating, planning and organizing thoughts and ideas.
Dramatic Play
Our objective is to allow children the freedom to express themselves, to give them the opportunity to create their own situations, to use role playing in problem solving, to role play various Judaic and secular events, feelings, stories and situations, to encourage creative thinking to build self-esteem.
Physical Education
Goals involve promoting teamwork, following instructions, improving strength, flexibility, and coordination; promoting a joy of movement and exercise; and improving self-esteem, confidence and motor control. PE is taught weekly by the JCC's assistant athletic director. In addition to these enrichment classes, our children receive daily playground time where they can run, jump and play.
Music
A preschool music specialist teaches a weekly music enrichment class. Classes are designed to develop a sense of rhythm, to encourage enjoyment of singing, to encourage interpretive movement, to act out songs, to use songs and fingerplays to enhance Judaic and secular themes, and to enhance language development.
